Spider Talks Rewind

The University’s Physical Distance Framework and CDC guidelines have prevented the filming of new episodes of Spider Talks, the popular video series featuring President Ronald A. Crutcher interviewing UR faculty about their areas of expertise and research. We’re hoping to resume filming of new Spider Talk segments in 2021. For now, we hope you will enjoy a selection of episodes from past seasons for a limited release for Spider Talks Rewind.

First out of the vault, “The Art of Public Speaking” with Linda Hobgood, director of the Speech Center and a professor in the department of rhetoric and communications studies. Hobgood specializes in public speaking, speech writing, personal communication, and political rhetoric. She frequently focuses on communication skills in both the workplace environment and the public setting.

And her commitment has continued throughout the pandemic. Hobgood and her Speech Center team have been holding remote appointments to continue serving the campus community within the safety guidelines in response to COVID-19.

We plan to air Spider Talks Rewind here on UR Now through the end of 2020. In September, we will explore theater as a tool for social change with theatre professor Patricia Herrera.
