Comic rapper alum Lil Dicky launches show on FXX
Spider Pride
It’s not every day that one of our own rises to stardom in the music industry, let alone both music and television. But b-school alum Dave Burd, who is better known as comic rapper Lil Dicky, has accomplished just that since he graduated in 2010 — and The New York Times, The Washington Post, and more just profiled his latest venture.
Burd’s semi-autobiographical series called “Dave” is airing on FXX. The show is created and produced by some of entertainment’s heavy hitters like Jeff Schaffer, who worked on “The League,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “Seinfeld,” as well as comedian Kevin Hart, and “Superbad” director Greg Mottola. It follows the trajectory of Lil Dicky’s career after his initial music video went viral on YouTube in 2013.
“I always took him seriously,” Lil Dicky’s hype man and rapper GaTa said in The New York Times article. “Because he’s a white rapper you knew it was not going to happen overnight, but it happened fast because he has a vision and he’s driven and he’s that talented.”
