We’ve shared some impressive alum news recently, and we’re excited the accolades keep rolling in.

The latest example comes out of the law school, with alum Brian L. Buniva, L’79, being chosen to lead the Virginia State Bar, an administrative agency of the Supreme Court of Virginia. His new duties are in addition to his current role at B.L. Buniva Strategic Advisor, PLLC.

Buniva has practiced law for almost 40 years, including working for the Virginia Attorney General’s Office, at both small and large firms, and for an international company. Since Spiders are prone to multitasking, it should come as no surprise that his resume includes chairing various committees for both the Virginia State Bar and the Virginia Bar Association for many years.

“My goals are to be a servant leader, protect the public, enhance the standing of our profession, improve access to justice, and be a voice for the independence of lawyers and the judiciary,” he said in an article announcing his appointment.

Congratulations, Brian! We are proud you are representing UR in your new role.
