Spider Pride

The study abroad experience is something we value and support here at UR. We pride ourselves on the opportunities available to undergrads, as well as the impressive ways our students push themselves while away from campus.

Emily Churchill, ’19, authored a blog while in Granada, Spain, during the 2017–18 academic year, and her work has earned her the title of Correspondent of the Year by the Institute for the International Education of Students. She is emblematic of the determined Spider making the most of her studies abroad as she offered advice and shared personal stories.

We clearly weren’t the only ones following her journey — visitors to her blog have read her posts more than 2,500 times.

IES’ correspondent program included more than 175 students, and a release announcing her award said, “Emily’s writing stood out above the rest, and we are happy to honor her with this award.”

“Leading up to my departure, I read every blog post from Granada in order to find tips and suggestions to get the most out of my experience,” Emily said. “It was a dream come true to serve as an IES abroad blogger, and an even bigger honor to receive this recognition!”

Congratulations, Emily! We look forward to having you back on campus in just a few days.
