Celebrating National Spider Day -- and a Spider Pride milestone

March 14, 2018

Spider Pride

It’s March 14, which means it’s National Spider Day! Even though we celebrate UR every day here on Spider Pride, we take this day as a community to reflect on everything it means to be part of the Spider family. Our community — wherever you are in the world — is one that embraces not only our unique mascot, but who we are as a whole. We’re eager to look after one another and happy to tell the nearest person that we’re Spiders. We love to share our latest milestones and accomplishments, too.

So it’s fitting that, on this National Spider Day, we’re also celebrating the first anniversary of this very Spider Pride blog. We (selfishly) thank you for reading and sharing. We’ve had a lot to tell you about this year — nearly 250 stories about enterprising alums, inspiring students, innovative professors, and so much more.

We can’t wait to see what the next year brings.

So today, let’s celebrate! Break out your red and blue gear. Tell someone why you love UR. Follow @urichmond on social and share your #spiderpride with reckless abandon.

Happy Spider Day!
