The team defeats Saint Joseph’s to claim second straight championship, advances to NCAA tournament game at Robins Stadium on Saturday.
For the first time ever, the University of Richmond men’s lacrosse team will host an NCAA Tournament game, as the No. 4-seed Spiders welcome Duke to Robins Stadium on Saturday, May 9 at 7:30 p.m. The game will air on ESPNU.
Richmond earned the Atlantic 10's automatic bid and its seventh NCAA Tournament berth Saturday with an 8–6 victory over Saint Joseph’s in the Atlantic 10 Championship. The title marked the program's third A-10 crown in the last four years and secured Richmond's first back-to-back conference championships since 2022–23.
The Spiders are seeded in the NCAA Tournament for the first time and enter at 14–1, winners of 23 of their last 25 games, and carry a program-best RPI of three. Richmond went undefeated in conference play and claimed a regular season title for the second consecutive season. They reached the program's first-ever No. 1 national ranking earlier this year following wins over fellow tournament teams Virginia, Cornell, and Georgetown.
First Round matchups (May 9/10) will be held on campus sites at the higher seed, with quarterfinal action (May 16–17) hosted by Hofstra and Delaware. The winner of Saturday's contest will advance to face the winner of No. 5-seed Virginia and Georgetown on Sunday, May 17 at Delaware.
The NCAA Semifinals (May 23) and Championship (May 25) will be held at Scott Stadium at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville.
