The University of Richmond men’s lacrosse team is ranked No. 2 nationally, and its high-octane play was on display in Saturday’s game against No. 15 Georgetown.

The game was tied 8-8 after three quarters, when Richmond outscored Georgetown 6-2 in a final push to secure a 14-10 victory.

"Exciting to come away again on a Saturday with a win against a really quality opponent. We've got a ton of respect for Georgetown, their players, and their coaches,” said men’s lacrosse head coach Dan Chemotti, the 2025 Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. “Being tied through three quarters and having the ability to step up in the fourth and find a way to win was great for our guys."

Leading the Richmond offense were juniors Lucas Littlejohn and Gavin Creo, who had three goals each, and sophomore Daniel Picart and senior Aidan O’Neil, who brought in two goals and two assists each. O’Neil is now one goal away from the 100th of his career.

The Spiders are nationally ranked No. 2, which is the highest ranking in program history. They are off to a 6-0 start — the best in the program’s history — including four wins against a team ranked or receiving votes (Virginia, Lehigh, defending D1 national champion Cornell, and Georgetown).

"We're having a strong start to the season. Certainly, credit the guys for meeting all the challenges that have been put in front of them so far. We've been able to grow a little bit each week and there's still a lot of room for improvement,” Chemotti said.

“The guys are working really, really hard and I'm proud of how they're representing themselves, their families and our program."

The Spiders begin A-10 conference play next week, hosting Delaware for Youth Day on Saturday, March 14, at 3 p.m.
