Boatwright Memorial Library reopened in mid-August to much interest. A new front entrance and terrace welcome visitors to the building, which has 24,047 square feet of renovated indoor space, including a two-story atrium, an enlarged 8:15 Café, and a completely remodeled Lora Robins Gallery.
“The response to the completed renovations has been overwhelmingly positive,” said Rebekah Smith, outreach and communications manager for the library. “Students and faculty, along with their families and community members, have stopped by to explore and appreciate the updated floor.”
Smith has seen an increase in collaboration and connection, with the ground floor becoming a popular spot for group projects, faculty office hours, and informal gatherings, such as coffee dates.
“The open space and abundant natural light from the atrium have created an environment that draws in our campus community and encourages them to spend more time in the library,” Smith said.
Renovations to the first and second floors of the library, including the Weinstein Learning Center, are expected to be completed by August 2026.
