UNIVERSITY NEWS
Every year, prospective students and their parents turn to the Princeton Review to help them narrow down the selection of colleges they will consider. This year, the University of Richmond is included in the 2025 edition of The Best 390 Colleges and earned several top accolades in categories determined by student surveys.
UR has been recognized for its exceptional student services, stunning campus, and superior dining experience, among other achievements in the latest rankings.
"Our campus operations staff, including in both dining and facilities, take pride in the beauty of our campus and serving our students with hospitality, quality, and efficiency. These elements make the University a great place to learn, work, and live," said Maria O’Callaghan-Cassidy, senior associate vice president for Campus Operations.
No. 1 for Best Student Support and Counseling Services
A top honor — UR ranked No. 1 for Best Student Support and Counseling Services, up from No. 16 in this category last year.
“This ranking highlights the University’s commitment to prioritizing student well-being and mental health,” said Kristen Day, director of Counseling & Psychological Services. “Our dedicated team provides comprehensive clinical services and collaborates across campus to enhance student success and well-being.”
“This recognition reflects that our students are receiving the support they need, which is our goal every day,” she added.
No. 2 for Most Beautiful Campus
The University of Richmond also ranked No. 2 for Most Beautiful Campus. The University’s Gothic Revival-style buildings are set on a campus that includes 378 acres of rolling hills, carefully manicured gardens, and a scenic lake.
“From our landscaping crews to our custodial and maintenance services staff, our facilities team is passionate about their work, and it’s clear our students recognize that and enjoy the spaces and places on our campus,” said Sam Robertson, executive director of facilities operations.
No. 3 for Best-Run Colleges, Best Campus Food
For the second year in a row, UR secured spot No. 3 for Best-Run Colleges.
“This ranking indicates that our students feel like they are getting the most out of not only their academic opportunities but also the many other facets of the college experience, from extracurriculars, to dining, to the physical spaces on our campus,” said Dave Hale, executive vice president and chief operating officer. “It is also a testament to the University’s talented and tireless staff and faculty who work to support our students at every turn.”
Another top 5 honor, UR claimed the No. 3 spot for Best Campus Food, up from 11 last year.
“This ranking is our best ever for our award-winning dining program,” said Executive Chef Tyler Betzhold. “Our dining team is customer-focused and prioritizes student needs, plus we are committed to providing a variety of balanced, delicious, and sustainable options in our dining hall and retail locations across campus.”
No. 8 for Best Athletic Facilities
“UR has been consistently recognized for providing some of the top places to play in all of college athletics, and being ranked so favorably is a testament to both our athlete and fan experience,” said John Hardt, vice president and director of athletics.
