Endowed scholarship honors Steve Bisese’s legacy of care and kindness
University News
Vice President for Student Development Steve Bisese spent his career mentoring hundreds of students and colleagues across campus and elsewhere.
He’s retiring on June 30, and an endowed scholarship will honor his extraordinary impact. Alumni, colleagues, and friends established the scholarship in gratitude for and celebration of his years of service — first as an area coordinator for Richmond College, later as dean of Richmond College, and finally as vice president for Student Development from 2006 through 2024.
More than 100 donors gave nearly $150,000 to the scholarship during this year’s UR Here Giving Day. Those who contributed commented on his great career, his dedication to UR, and his care and kindness. One donor wrote, “You are the quintessential Spider.”
To inspire additional support, Marcus Weinstein, a 1949 alum, will match 2:1 all gifts to the Steve Bisese Scholarship Fund up to $350,000.
