As a prosecutor, Daniel Warhola loves pursuing justice and doing what’s right for the community and crime victims.

Warhola, who graduated from the University of Richmond in 2009 with degrees in business administration and marketing and international business, is an assistant U.S. attorney in Denver. Before assuming that post in 2022, he was a senior deputy district attorney in the 18th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in Centennial, Colorado, where he was part of the vehicular homicide team for five years.

In recognition of his work in fighting impaired driving, Warhola received the Outstanding Prosecutor award from the Colorado Department of Transportation and Mothers Against Drunk Driving as part of their 2022 Law Enforcement Champion awards.

“Receiving the award was humbling and a great honor, one I really value because it’s hard but rewarding work,” said Warhola, who graduated from the University of Denver’s law school in 2013.

Warhola’s chief at the time nominated him for the award based on his tireless work over eight years in the job. In one calendar year, he successfully tried three vehicular homicide cases. Typically, a prosecutor might take one or two to court.

Warhola often prosecutes cases where the defendant showed reckless disregard for life. After one such case, Warhola received a letter from the victim’s husband, thanking him for his effort.

“That letter meant so much to me, to have that sense of gratification for our work from the victim’s family,” he said. “It reminded me of why we do this job.”
