UR Now: Looking back at a year like no other

August 16, 2021

UNIVERSITY NEWS

Last fall, University Communications launched UR Now, a weekly digital news digest that reports on student and alumni accomplishments, faculty expertise, and progress at the University of Richmond. UR Now is a collaboration involving University Communications editors, designers, programmers, and social media and media professionals. This issue marks a full year since we established this significant communications effort.

Our launch coincided with the return to campus during the COVID pandemic. As a result, UR Now became the primary means to report how the University was responding to support the Spider community. Since then, the digest each week has presented a mix of original stories about students, faculty, and staff to help connect with our worldwide audience and keep them informed of the University’s progress.

The weekly email is sent to all alumni, faculty, and staff, as well as current Spider students and their parents. The day UR Now launched, almost half of the 43,000 subscribers checked out the first issue. On average, more than a third of those receiving each weekly email are opening it. University Communications is working hard to continue to build a loyal readership over time.

In the next year, UR Now will expand its storytelling through compelling features, photography, and multimedia. We hope you’ll enjoy the many views we’ll share about the enduring quality of the University and the significant impact of Spiders in the world.
