The Sharp Viewpoint Speaker Series continues next week and features philosopher, political activist, and Harvard University professor Cornel West and American legal scholar and Princeton University professor Robert George.

Friendship and Dialogue across Difference will be offered virtually to the public at 7 p.m. on March 25. West and George are friends and former colleagues who will discuss the importance of advancing conversations and cultivating friendships across ideological and political divides.

West is a professor of the Practice of Public Philosophy in the Divinity School and the Department of African and African American Studies at Harvard University. He is the author of 20 books, including “Race Matters,” “Democracy Matters,” and, most recently, “Black Prophetic Fire,” as well as a memoir, “Brother West: Living and Loving Out Loud.”

George is the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence and director of the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions at Princeton University and the Herbert W. Vaughan Senior Fellow at the Witherspoon Institute. In addition to his academic service, George has served as chairman of the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. 

Previous Sharp Series topics included bipartisanship with Denis McDonough, former White House chief of staff to President Barack Obama, and Mike Sommers, former chief of staff to Speaker of the House John Boehner, as well as the 2020 election with Mary Kate Cary, former speechwriter for President George H.W. Bush, and Mary Anne Marsh, Democratic political analyst and consultant.
